E-invoicing & validators
Why is a regular PDF not a structured e-invoice?
A PDF can be readable, but it does not automatically contain validatable XML, EN16931, KSeF or Peppol data.
A regular PDF primarily describes the visible presentation of an invoice. A structured e-invoice additionally contains machine-readable fields in a defined semantic and technical format.
Readable is not structured
People can read text and tables in a PDF, but systems cannot reliably identify supplier, tax category, lines and totals from presentation alone. OCR creates extracted data, not an official e-invoice format.
Hybrid-format exception
ZUGFeRD or Factur-X can embed structured XML in a suitable PDF/A file. Visible content and XML must match and satisfy the selected profile.
Convert PDF into an e-invoice
Dynafis can extract, review and map PDF data into a target format. Missing fields must be completed, suggestions reviewed and the generated file validated against the target rule set.
