How do export and import differ for tax?

Export and import are separate events with distinct evidence, customs and VAT consequences.

An export is movement of goods out of the EU VAT territory; an import is entry of goods from a third country. Export exemption and import VAT are separate questions.

Clarify roles

The contract and Incoterm influence who arranges transport, customs declaration, import and charges, but they do not replace tax analysis.

Evidence

Export and import records, customs documents, transport data, value and importer must be linked traceably.
